made by and for young artists, everywhere in the world.
Cristal is meant to be a playground for upcoming artists from all around the world to come and create a space for themselves. It's about rasing voices and sharing experiences throught all the forms of art.
It reclaims the "crystal/glass generation" boomer speech that we're "easily offended". Sir, we are just not pleased with how things work and are not afraid to say it and actually do somethings about it.
Every issue has a core concept and a main artist whose overall work aligns with it. With a previous open call to sumbit their work around that same concept, the rest of the print will feature the artwork from lots of artists from around the world.
Hopefully this will someday turn into a real project that can actually mean something to a lot of people.

The main idea for each number’s cover was to feature the artowrk of that issue’s spotHowever, as this was a concept project and that couldn’t be done this time around, i decided to make the covers myself and tie them up with the concept and the artists.lighted artist. These were some of the runner-ups for the cover pictures. i wanted to show those too because i believe in showing the process and not just the final result.
some of them were pictures i had sitting on my hard drive and i saw the opportuniy to use them on this project. others were intentionally shot for this.

it is presented as a high-school yearbook in a bigger, bolder format and with variations on the cover elements to make it special.
there’s no makeup. just a raw face with a smudge of colors around the eyes that can you can tell wasn’t meant to look like that. something happened. most likely she cried, but she’s over that now and she’s ready to get up.
it’s a representation of a generation whose full of dreams that are constantly challenged, doubted or denied. however, that doesn’t stop them.
eventually, this ended up being a compilation of artists that i’ve admired for years for their work and for who they are as humans.
